Hotel Marcantonio Rome is a small hotel near Roma Termini in central Rome. We stayed here on two separate occasions during our recent trip to Italy to visit Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. We found it to be a clean, quiet and affordable option in a very convenient location.
Why We Stayed at Hotel Marcantonio Rome
Stay #1
The first time we stayed at the Hotel Marcantonio Rome, we had just landed in Rome after an overnight flight from Canada. We had flown into the Rome Fiumicino “Leonardo da Vinci” Airport and we had just one night in Rome before continuing by train to Naples. So our priority was finding a clean, comfortable hotel close to Roma Termini, where our train to Naples would depart. Hotel Marcantonio Rome was only a few blocks from the train station, making it a convenient choice after a long travel day.
Stay #2
The second time we stayed at the Hotel Marcantonio Rome was at the tail end of our trip to Italy. We arrived in Rome by train from the Amalfi Coast and wanted a convenient place for a one-night stay near Roma Termini. This allowed us to wake up on our departure day and easily take the Leonardo Express back to the airport for our flight back home to Canada.

Hotel Marcantonio Rome Location
How Close Is Hotel Marcantonio to Roma Termini?
The convenient location was one of the best things about Hotel Marcantonio. It was easy to take the Leonardo Express train between the Rome Fiumicino “Leonardo da Vinci” Airport and Roma Termini in central Rome. It then took us about 10 minutes to walk from our train at Roma Termini to the hotel.
At the beginning of our Amalfi Coast trip, being within easy walking distance of Roma Termini made it easy to continue our journey to Naples the following morning.
At the tail end of our trip, staying at Hotel Marcantonio Rome made it easy to take the Leonardo Express back to the airport. Having stress-free travel days is a priority for us, and staying here certainly helped with that
Is the Location Good for Rome Sightseeing?
On both ends of our trip, we had time to explore some of Rome’s main sights. Hotel Marcantonio is best suited to travellers who want to stay near Roma Termini rather than in the heart of the main sightseeing area. That said, we were able to walk from the hotel to many of Rome’s main attractions.
From the Hotel Marcantonio Rome it’s only a 1.3 km / 0.8 miles walk to the Colosseum and 1.5 km / 0.9 miles to the Trevi Fountain. The furthest point we walked to was to Campo de’ Fiori where we treated ourselves to a Rome food tour. This was only 2.5 km / 1.6 miles from our hotel.

Is the Area Around Hotel Marcantonio Safe?
The area around Roma Termini wasn’t the nicest neighbourhood we saw in Rome, but we never felt unsafe walking between the station and our hotel.
Accessibility
Hotel Marcantonio is located inside an older building that houses several small hotels. Its reception is on the fifth floor.
There is a small elevator with room for approximately two people, although we chose to take the stairs. Despite reception being on the fifth floor, our room ended up being on the first floor.

Breakfast at Hotel Marcantonio
Breakfast was included with our stay and was delivered directly to our room.
Each breakfast included a croissant, a hot drink and juice. Everything was good quality, but we found the portions too small for a full breakfast. We ended up buying additional food at Roma Termini before catching our train to Naples.
Cleanliness
We found both our room and the hotel very clean throughout our stay.

Is Hotel Marcantonio Quiet?
Despite staying on the first floor, our room was quiet. We didn’t hear street noise or noise from the hallway.
Our Room & Amenities
Our room was fairly small, but it had plenty of shelving for our belongings, which we appreciated.
The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Our main complaint about the room was the lack of conveniently located power outlets, but this is a common issue in many hotels around Europe. The outlets at this hotel were type F and L (the ones with little round holes), so we needed to use our universal travel power adapter.

Is Hotel Marcantonio Rome Worth It?
Hotel Marcantonio worked very well for what we needed: a clean, quiet and affordable hotel close to Roma Termini.
The breakfast was smaller than we expected, and the building setup is a little unusual, but neither would stop us from staying here again.
For a short stay near Roma Termini, we thought Hotel Marcantonio offered good value for the money and we would happily stay here again.
